What is the EXACT make and model of the reader? Is it Digital Concepts CR-75 USB 51-in-1 Card Reader/Writer (if not, which one)? Where if anywhere did you get drivers, firmware, and/or software for this devicce or did you just plug it in and expect it to work with nothing else required (which may indeed be the case but I suspect not - I'd just like to know if you did anything at all to make it more compatible with the system). Where did you get these files and where is technical support (a web site would help - is it Sakar http://www.sakar.com/contactus.aspx?) If so, check out the following site:http://www.bestpriceaudiovideo.com/digital-concepts-cr-75-usb-51-in-1-card-reader-writer/. You'll notice that it does not include Vista as a compatible OS. Yes, I know it's working find on the other Vista machine and it even works partially on this one - but it still may have some issues.'

The Digital Concepts 51-in-1 card reader/writer allows you to read from and write to (supposedly) 51 different kinds of memory cards. I certainly haven’t tried all the options, but I find that it’s versatile and works great in all the ways I’ve tried it. Yes, instead of a 51-In-1 card reader I got a 59-In-1 card reader and it was a different brand that works GREAT so far. And delivery was very fast and reliable, however I feel like you should get exactly what you order.
I would contact Sakar technical support http://www.sakar.com/contactus.aspx and discss the problem with them. They may have a simple fix or they may tell you that you need to install some additional things (and hopefully tell you where to get them) or they may say it has a problem with Vista 64-bit. In any event, they know the product better than we do and since you're 'installing' it as plug-and-play, then the issue isn't Vista but the device and/or the drivers, firmware, and/or software required for the device (even though that wan't needed in the 32-bit Vista computer).
I hope this helps.
Good luck!
